Mater Health Hub Set to Revolutionize Healthcare in Greater Springfield Community.
The Greater Springfield community is set to benefit from a new state-of-the-art education, health and wellbeing centre, thanks to the announcement of the Mater Health Hub, Springfield. The hub is scheduled to open in July 2023, offering clinical and allied health services, community programs to improve health literacy, and a range of health and wellbeing options for families. The new centre complements the existing Mater Private Hospital Springfield and the planned public hospital, making it a comprehensive family healthcare destination.

Mater Education, the largest non-government training organization for nurses in Queensland, will relocate to the health hub, which is under construction. Springfield City Group Chairman Maha Sinnathamby AM praised the announcement, saying it will create job opportunities and career paths for nursing students and other healthcare professionals.

The Mater Health Hub will include simulation rooms for student training, a childcare center, gym, and cafe, covering 4150sqm under a 10-year lease agreement with HealthCo Healthcare & Wellness. As a major training hub for Mater Education, students will receive hands-on training at the nearby Mater Private Hospital Springfield.

The new Mater Health Hub will also incorporate services currently offered at Brookwater Health Clinic, such as specialist consulting rooms, Mater Pathology, a large GP practice, and a chemist. According to Mater Executive Director of Residential Care and Community Services, Dr. Fiona Hinchliffe, the hub will revolutionize healthcare delivery in the area, providing innovative and contemporary health and wellbeing services to the community, and eliminating the need to travel outside Springfield to access healthcare. Dr. Hinchliffe said Mater is committed to developing a local healthcare workforce and providing a career path for young people in the region.
